YouTube Transcript Generator
YouTube's auto-captions are often missing, machine-garbled or disabled by the uploader. Download the video (or just its audio) with a browser extension, yt-dlp or an online downloader, upload the file to ScribeToAny, and get a clean, timestamped transcript you can search, quote and export.

What you get: a real transcript
Unedited output from a 64-second interview with two speakers (synthetic voices), transcribed with speaker detection on. Only the first lines are shown.
SPEAKER_00 (0:00) Welcome back to Small Shop Stories. SPEAKER_00 (0:02) Today I'm talking to Maya, who runs a tiny bakery on the SPEAKER_00 (0:05) corner of Mill Street. SPEAKER_01 (0:07) Thanks for having me. SPEAKER_01 (0:08) It's really small, just two ovens and a counter. SPEAKER_00 (0:12) So how does a normal day start for you?

Checked against the script, 4 of 189 words differed — a 2.1% word error rate, counting "80" written for "eighty" as an error — and all 14 speaker turns were labelled correctly. This was clean speech; noisy recordings and people talking over each other score lower. See the full transcript and how it was scored

Frequently asked questions
Do I need to download the video first?
Yes. Because of YouTube's anti-bot restrictions, ScribeToAny can't pull audio from a pasted YouTube link — download the video or audio to your device first (a browser extension, yt-dlp or an online downloader all work), then upload the file. Once uploaded it's treated like any other file: it counts toward the same quota (free: 2 files per day, 100 minutes per month), respects the same per-file duration limits, and produces the same editable, timestamped transcript with 8 export formats.
Is this better than YouTube auto-captions?
Often, yes: auto-captions are frequently missing, unpunctuated or disabled, and they stay locked inside YouTube. Here you get full punctuation and sentence structure, can edit any line, and export PDF, DOCX, JSON, TSV and CSV as well as SRT and VTT. On unclear audio no automatic system is perfect, so check key passages.
Can I transcribe videos in other languages?
Yes — about 98 languages with automatic detection, so lectures in Spanish, interviews in Japanese or sermons in Portuguese transcribe just as well as English content. You can also transcribe any language straight into English. Mixed-language videos, common in tech talks, are handled as spoken.
Can it create YouTube chapters for me?
Not automatically. The transcript's timestamps make chapters quick to write yourself: skim the text, note where each topic starts, and paste those times into the video description.
Can I upload the subtitles back to YouTube?
Yes. Export SRT, then in YouTube Studio open the video's Subtitles section and upload the file with timing. The cue times come from the speech, so they line up with the video you downloaded.
