Transcribe a Webex Recording

Webex records meetings to the cloud or to a local file, but a recording you have to sit through is not a record you can use. Upload the MP4 and ScribeToAny turns it into a searchable transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, so the decisions and action items become text you can paste and share rather than a video to rewatch. Available on every plan, with free translation into 134+ languages.

Checked against the script, 4 of 189 words differed — a 2.1% word error rate, counting "80" written for "eighty" as an error — and all 14 speaker turns were labelled correctly. This was clean speech; noisy recordings and people talking over each other score lower. See the full transcript and how it was scored

Why ScribeToAny

  • Transcribes Webex MP4 cloud recordings and exported audio files.
  • Works with typical conference-room and VoIP audio; heavy echo or speakerphone distance lowers accuracy, and Restore audio helps.
  • A searchable, timestamped transcript for board meetings, briefings and webinars — review it before using it as a formal record.

Frequently asked questions

What Webex file do I upload?

Upload the MP4 recording. Webex cloud recordings can be downloaded as MP4; local recordings save as ARF, which Webex’s own player converts to MP4 first. Audio-only files work too.

Does it label each speaker?

Yes. Turn on Detect speakers and the transcript is split by speaker, so a multi-person meeting reads as a conversation. Speakers come back numbered rather than named, and the labels can't be renamed in the app yet — if you need real names, find-and-replace them in the exported DOCX or TXT.

Can I get subtitles or a shareable transcript?

Both. Export SRT or VTT to caption the recording, or share a read-only link so colleagues can read and search it without an account. PDF and DOCX exports are there for formal minutes.

Webex already offers transcripts — why use this?

Webex's transcripts depend on your plan and settings and stay inside Webex. Here you get the full text as a file you own, with timestamps you can click, optional speaker labels and eight export formats.

How long can a Webex recording be?

Up to 6 hours per file on paid plans, and 30 minutes on the free plan. Longer recordings aren't rejected — only the part within your limit is transcribed, and the transcript notes it.
