Transcribe a Google Meet Recording

Google Meet saves recordings to Drive as MP4, but a video is a poor place to look things up. Download the recording, upload it here, and ScribeToAny returns a searchable transcript with speaker labels and timestamps — the minutes, action items and quotes, without scrubbing through the video. Available on every plan, with free translation into 134+ languages.

Checked against the script, 4 of 189 words differed — a 2.1% word error rate, counting "80" written for "eighty" as an error — and all 14 speaker turns were labelled correctly. This was clean speech; noisy recordings and people talking over each other score lower. See the full transcript and how it was scored

Why ScribeToAny

  • Directly transcribes Google Meet recording MP4s stored in your 'Meet Recordings' folder on Google Drive.
  • Useful when Meet's own transcripts aren't available on your Workspace plan or were switched off.
  • Handles mixed audio from laptops, phones and dial-in participants; faint or phone-line audio is where a quick proofread helps.

Frequently asked questions

Where do I find the Google Meet recording?

Meet saves recordings to the organiser’s Google Drive, usually in a "Meet Recordings" folder, and emails a link. Download that MP4, then upload it here — there is no account to connect and nothing to install.

Does it separate the speakers?

Yes. Turn on Detect speakers and the transcript is split by speaker, so a team call reads as a back-and-forth. Speakers come back numbered rather than named, and the labels can't be renamed in the app yet — if you need real names, find-and-replace them in the exported DOCX or TXT.

Can I share the minutes with people who were not there?

Yes. Share a read-only link to the transcript — anyone with the link can read and search it without an account — or export PDF or DOCX minutes to send. SRT and VTT are there too if you want to caption the recording.

Can I transcribe a Meet call recorded with another tool?

Yes. A screen or audio recording of the call — MP4, WEBM, M4A and so on — uploads the same way, which helps when Meet's own recording wasn't available on your account.

Does the transcript include the chat?

No — only what's said in the recording's audio. Meet keeps chat messages separately from the recording, so check those in Drive or the meeting itself.
