Edit SRT subtitles online

Most subtitle problems are one of two things: a word is wrong, or the whole file is a couple of seconds out of sync. This editor handles both — click any line to fix the text, type a new timestamp to move a single cue, or shift every cue at once. Load your video alongside it and you can watch the fix land instead of guessing. The subtitle file and the video both stay on your machine; neither is uploaded.

Runs entirely in your browser — your file is never uploaded.

Load an .srt, .vtt, .ass, .ssa, .smi, .ttml or .sbv file to start editing.

Frequently asked questions

Do my subtitle file and video get uploaded?

No. The subtitle file is read by the page itself, and the video plays from a local reference your browser creates — it is never sent anywhere, which is also why a two-hour film opens instantly instead of uploading first. Close the tab and both are gone.

My subtitles are two seconds late. Do I have to fix every line?

No — that is what the shift control is for. Enter -2 and every cue moves back two seconds at once, keeping the gaps between them exactly as they were. Fractions work too, so -1.5 is fine. Nothing is ever pushed below zero.

Can it open formats other than SRT, and save as something else?

Yes to both. It reads SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA, SMI, TTML and SBV — the format is detected from the contents, so a mislabelled extension does not matter — and saves as SRT, VTT, TXT, CSV, JSON, DOCX or PDF. That makes it a converter too: open an .ass, save an .srt.
