Transcribe a Zoom Recording
A recorded Zoom call is only useful if you can find what was said in it. Upload the recording — the local MP4 or the audio-only M4A — and ScribeToAny turns it into a clean transcript with speaker labels and timestamps, so you can search it, quote it, and share the notes instead of asking everyone to rewatch. It works on every plan, including free translation into 134+ languages.

What you get: a real transcript
Unedited output from a 64-second interview with two speakers (synthetic voices), transcribed with speaker detection on. Only the first lines are shown.
SPEAKER_00 (0:00) Welcome back to Small Shop Stories. SPEAKER_00 (0:02) Today I'm talking to Maya, who runs a tiny bakery on the SPEAKER_00 (0:05) corner of Mill Street. SPEAKER_01 (0:07) Thanks for having me. SPEAKER_01 (0:08) It's really small, just two ovens and a counter. SPEAKER_00 (0:12) So how does a normal day start for you?
1 00:00:00,000 --> 00:00:01,680 [SPEAKER_00] Welcome back to Small Shop Stories. 2 00:00:02,160 --> 00:00:05,320 [SPEAKER_00] Today I'm talking to Maya, who runs a tiny bakery on the 3 00:00:05,320 --> 00:00:06,320 [SPEAKER_00] corner of Mill Street.
Checked against the script, 4 of 189 words differed — a 2.1% word error rate, counting "80" written for "eighty" as an error — and all 14 speaker turns were labelled correctly. This was clean speech; noisy recordings and people talking over each other score lower. See the full transcript and how it was scored
How it works
- 1

Export
Edit segments online, then export TXT, SRT, VTT, TSV, CSV, JSON, PDF or DOCX.
Why ScribeToAny
- Works with local recordings (an MP4 and an audio-only M4A, usually in Documents/Zoom) and downloaded cloud recordings.
- An alternative to Zoom's live captions: a full, punctuated transcript made after the call.
- Timestamped transcript with optional speaker labels, so you can search the call instead of scrubbing through the video.
Frequently asked questions
Do I connect my Zoom account?
No. You upload the recording file that Zoom already saved — no account connection, no integration to install. Local recordings are MP4 (video) or M4A (audio); either works. That also keeps the meeting private to you.
Does it label who said what?
Yes. Turn on Detect speakers and the transcript is split by speaker, so a multi-person call reads as a conversation rather than one block. Speakers come back numbered rather than named, and the labels can't be renamed in the app yet — if you need real names, find-and-replace them in the exported DOCX or TXT.
Can I get subtitles or share a read-only link?
Both. Export SRT or VTT to caption the recording, or share a read-only link to the transcript so teammates can read and search it without an account. Exports also include PDF and DOCX for meeting minutes.
Zoom saved a separate audio file for each participant — should I use those?
If you turned on Zoom's option to record a separate audio file for each participant, yes: upload each file (up to 6 at a time) and every transcript belongs to one known person — more reliable than detecting speakers in the mixed recording.
Should I upload the MP4 or the M4A?
The audio-only M4A is smaller and gives the same transcript, since only the audio is used. Upload the MP4 if that's the only file you have.
