Can I just paste the YouTube link?

No — YouTube links are not accepted for import. Download the video with whatever tool you already use, then upload the file. This is deliberate: fetching YouTube media server-side is unreliable and sits badly with the platform's terms, so we ask for the file instead of failing halfway through a job.
