Convert OGG to Text

OGG is common for open-source recordings, games and voice apps, but it is a container you listen to, not something you can read. Upload the OGG and ScribeToAny turns the speech into timestamped, editable text with optional speaker labels, exportable in eight formats. Works on every plan; nothing to install.

Checked against the script, 4 of 189 words differed — a 2.1% word error rate, counting "80" written for "eighty" as an error — and all 14 speaker turns were labelled correctly. This was clean speech; noisy recordings and people talking over each other score lower. See the full transcript and how it was scored

Why ScribeToAny

  • Tailored for Ogg Vorbis recordings from Discord bot logs, gaming voice chats, and open-source audio production tools like Audacity.
  • Stereo and multi-channel OGG is mixed down to mono before transcription; per-speaker tracks can be uploaded separately.
  • Ideal for podcast editors and developers needing verbatim dialogue transcripts from open-format audio archives.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle both Ogg Vorbis and Ogg Opus?

Yes — the .ogg container holds either, and both are transcribed the same way. Upload the file as it is; there is no need to convert it to another format first.

Do I need to pick the language?

No — language is detected automatically. If a recording is quiet or heavily mixed, setting the language explicitly can help, but it is not required.

What formats can I export?

TXT, SRT, VTT, TSV, CSV, JSON, PDF and DOCX. If the OGG is the audio from a video, the timestamped SRT or VTT drops straight back on as subtitles.

How should I transcribe a Discord recording with one track per speaker?

Recording bots such as Craig save a separate file per participant. Upload each track on its own (up to 6 at a time): every transcript then belongs to one known speaker, which is more reliable than speaker detection on a mixed file. If you only have a single mixed file, turn on Detect speakers instead.

Can I check how long my OGG file is before uploading?

Yes. Drop the file into the estimator on this page: it reads the length in your browser, without uploading anything, and shows the duration, an estimated word count (at about 130 words a minute) and the reading time. That tells you in advance whether the file fits the free plan's 30-minute limit.
