Convert HEIC to JPG

iPhones save photos as HEIC, which many apps and websites still refuse to open. Drop one or many HEIC files here and get plain JPGs back — decoded in this tab with a WebAssembly build of libheif, so the photos are never uploaded. Convert a whole camera roll at once and they come back as a single zip.

Frequently asked questions

Can I convert many HEIC files at once?

Yes. Select as many as you like — one file downloads as a JPG, several are bundled into a single zip. Everything runs on your device, so there is no per-file limit and no account.

Are my photos uploaded to a server?

No. The HEIC decoder runs as WebAssembly inside your browser, so the images are converted locally and never leave your device. That is also why it works offline once the page has loaded.

Does converting HEIC to JPG lose quality?

JPG is a lossy format, so the conversion re-compresses the image — but the tool saves at a high quality setting and, for a photo you will view or share normally, the result is visually indistinguishable from the HEIC. What you lose is HEIC smaller file size and its support for extras like depth or wide colour; what you gain is a file that opens on absolutely everything. Keep the HEIC originals if you want the smallest, highest-fidelity copies.

What happens to Live Photos?

You get the still image, not the motion. A Live Photo is a regular HEIC still paired with a short video clip; this converts the photo to a JPG and does not include the moving part, because a JPG is a single still image by definition. If the motion matters, it lives in a separate video file on your device — but for printing, uploading or sharing a photo, the still JPG is what you want.

Are the photo date and orientation kept?

The image is converted to display upright, so it will not come out sideways. Beyond that, treat metadata as best-effort: the capture date and camera details may or may not carry across cleanly into the JPG, so if the original date matters for sorting, check it after converting and rely on the untouched HEIC as the source of truth. The photos are never uploaded — conversion happens in your browser with a WebAssembly build of libheif.
