Compress Video

Shrink a video that is too large to email, upload or send on chat. Choose a quality — smaller, balanced or best — and the file is re-encoded to a leaner MP4 with WebCodecs right in this tab, so it never leaves your machine and there is no size cap or account.

Runs entirely in your browser — your file is never uploaded.

Frequently asked questions

Does compressing lose quality?

A little, by design — that is how the file gets smaller. The "Best quality" preset keeps it close to the original; "Smaller file" trades more quality for a bigger size reduction. Pick the one that fits where you are sending it.

Is there a file-size limit?

No server limit, because nothing is uploaded — the only ceiling is your device’s memory. Very large 4K clips can be slow or run out of memory in the tab; for those, resizing to a smaller resolution first helps.
