Convert M4A to MP3
M4A is Apple’s AAC container — fine on iPhones and Macs, but some players and upload forms still reject it. This re-encodes M4A to a universally playable MP3 with WebCodecs in your browser, so the file stays on your device and there is no size cap.

Frequently asked questions
Can it convert iPhone voice memos?
Yes — iPhone voice memos are M4A, so drop one in and get an MP3 back. If you want the words instead of the audio, transcribe the memo with ScribeToAny to get timestamped text.
Is anything uploaded?
No. Everything runs with WebCodecs in your browser tab — the file is never sent to a server, which is why there is no account and no size limit. Chrome, Edge and Firefox work best.
Why do some sites and players reject M4A?
M4A is an Apple wrapper around AAC audio — perfectly standard, but some upload forms, older car stereos, cheap MP3 players and certain editing tools were only ever coded to accept .mp3. It is a compatibility gap, not a quality one. Converting to MP3 gives you a file with the extension those systems are checking for, without changing anything you would hear.
Does converting M4A to MP3 reduce the quality?
It is a second lossy step — the AAC inside an M4A is already compressed, and MP3 compresses again — but the tool uses a high bitrate and the difference is inaudible for normal listening. There is no way to make the MP3 better than the M4A it came from; the goal is a universally playable file, not an upgrade. If you need a bit-perfect copy for editing, convert to WAV instead.
What if my M4A is actually lossless (ALAC)?
An .m4a can hold either AAC (compressed) or Apple Lossless (ALAC), and both convert here — the tool decodes whichever is inside. If yours is ALAC and you want to keep it lossless, convert to WAV or FLAC rather than MP3; MP3 would compress it. For ordinary AAC m4a files, which is the vast majority, MP3 is the right, widely-playable target.
