Convert FLAC to MP3
FLAC is lossless and sounds great, but the files are big and some phones and players will not open them. This re-encodes a FLAC to a compact, universally supported MP3 with WebCodecs in your browser, so nothing is uploaded and there is no cap on size or count.

Frequently asked questions
How much smaller will the MP3 be?
Usually several times smaller — FLAC keeps every bit of the original, while MP3 discards what is hard to hear. The exact ratio depends on the music and the bitrate, but a large FLAC album typically becomes a fraction of its size.
Is the file uploaded?
No. The conversion runs with WebCodecs on your own device — nothing leaves the browser, so there is no account, no quota and no size limit. Chrome, Edge and Firefox work best.
How much quality do I lose going from FLAC to MP3?
FLAC is lossless and MP3 is lossy, so some data is discarded — but at the high bitrate the tool uses, it is the data the ear is least likely to notice, and for normal listening the MP3 is hard to tell apart. The honest framing: you are trading a little fidelity and a lot of file size for a format that plays everywhere. Keep the FLAC as your master and use the MP3 for phones, cars and sharing.
Should I keep the FLAC or switch to MP3?
Keep both, for different jobs. FLAC is your archive — lossless, future-proof, the copy you re-encode from. MP3 is the everyday copy for devices that will not open FLAC or where size matters. The one thing to avoid is deleting the FLAC and later re-encoding from the MP3, since you cannot add back what MP3 removed. Convert from the FLAC each time you need a new lossy version.
Are the title and artist tags carried over?
The conversion focuses on the audio; FLAC keeps its tags as Vorbis comments and MP3 uses ID3, and they do not always transfer cleanly between the two. If album, artist and title matter, be ready to reapply them in a player or tag editor after converting. The audio itself comes across intact — that is the part that cannot be redone later.
