What you get: a real transcript
Unedited output from a 64-second interview with two speakers (synthetic voices), transcribed with speaker detection on. Only the first lines are shown.
SPEAKER_00 (0:00) Welcome back to Small Shop Stories. SPEAKER_00 (0:02) Today I'm talking to Maya, who runs a tiny bakery on the SPEAKER_00 (0:05) corner of Mill Street. SPEAKER_01 (0:07) Thanks for having me. SPEAKER_01 (0:08) It's really small, just two ovens and a counter. SPEAKER_00 (0:12) So how does a normal day start for you?

Checked against the script, 4 of 189 words differed — a 2.1% word error rate, counting "80" written for "eighty" as an error — and all 14 speaker turns were labelled correctly. This was clean speech; noisy recordings and people talking over each other score lower. See the full transcript and how it was scored

Frequently asked questions
Which video formats are supported?
MP4, MOV, WEBM, MPEG, MPG, WMV, MKV and AVI upload directly, alongside the audio formats MP3, M4A, AAC, WAV, FLAC, OGG, OPUS and WMA. There's no need to convert the video first: the audio track is extracted on our side before transcription. Paid plans accept files up to 5 GB — several hours of HD footage.
What is the difference between a video transcript and video subtitles?
A video transcript is a complete, readable text document (DOCX, PDF, TXT) structured into continuous paragraphs with speaker headings — ideal for articles, study notes, and skimming. Video subtitles (SRT, VTT) break speech into 1-to-2 line fragments synchronized to millisecond timestamps for on-screen playback in editors and players. ScribeToAny exports both from a single video upload.
Can I transcribe footage that has background music or sound effects?
Yes, as long as the speech is clearly louder than the music — which is how most videos are mixed. Loud music, overlapping effects or singing lower accuracy, and lyrics may be transcribed or skipped. For busy mixes, turn on Restore audio before transcribing and proofread the affected passages in the editor.
Do MKV or AVI files work?
Yes — MKV and AVI upload directly, just like MP4, MOV, WEBM, MPEG and WMV. The audio track is extracted on our side, so there's nothing to convert first. Only the audio is used for transcription, so for a very large video, uploading just its audio gives the same result faster.
Can I transcribe a video from a link instead of a file?
Yes, for public X (Twitter), Twitch and Loom videos, Dropbox share links, and direct links to a media file — paste the link instead of uploading. YouTube links can't be imported on our side, so download the video (or its audio) and upload the file.
