Italian to English

Two ways to go from Italian audio to English text, and which you want depends on whether you need the Italian as well. Ticking "transcribe to English" gives you English in one pass on any plan, free included. Choosing English as a translation target instead gives you both documents — the Italian transcript and the English translation, sharing identical cue timings — which is what you want for bilingual subtitles or when someone has to check the original.

Frequently asked questions

Does it handle regional Italian accents?

Yes — accents from across Italy, Milan to Naples to Sicily, are recognised. Heavy dialect far from standard Italian is where a quick proofread in the editor helps most.

Do I get the Italian transcript too, or only English?

Your choice. "Transcribe to English" gives you English only, in one pass, on any plan. Choosing English as a translation target keeps the Italian transcript and adds the English translation alongside it, with identical timings — that second mode is on the Max plan.

Can I make bilingual subtitles?

Yes. Both the Italian and English come out timestamped, so export SRT or VTT for each and they line up on the same video. That is the usual reason to keep both rather than transcribing straight to English.
